Optional seminar and workshop programme
On Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning there are seven seminar/workshop slots where you will be able to choose from 47 options.
Our aim is to bring you some of the most experienced practitioners and thinkers in Children's Ministry and Family Ministry and that means that they may well have also been asked to write books or record albums, so we are delighted to able to bring you speakers who are also the authors and artists of some the key titles that will be in the conference shop. We do ask most speakers to cover their topic in a more general way than just promoting their own material, but this year you will see some Showcasing... sessions on the programme. These sessions should still be packed with helpful ideas, but will focus on a particular product or ministry.
Children's Ministry
Whether you have just volunteered to help with the children's work in your church or seem to have been doing it forever, there should be sessions here that will inspire and resource you. If your area of ministry is focused on preschoolers or tweenagers (9-13s) then you will find seminars throughout the weekend particularly aimed at you.
Family Ministry
Family Ministry may encompass Children's Ministry in your church or may be complementary. These sessions will look at how to write the job description for a Family Ministry worker; how to reach out to families in our communities; good practice and great ideas for family and all-age events and services; and how to encourage parents to share in the role of faith exploration at home.
General workshops
Sessions packed with practical ideas for children's and all-age ministries. Many of these workshops will be hands (and feet)-on, so if you think you may have sat for too long in sessions on Saturday, plan to attend the dance or BibleBop workshops on Sunday morning!
Children Matter! leadership stream
These sessions are aimed particularly at those in positions of leadership, examining in more depth some of the issues relating to the role of the church and family in the faith development of children. The final session recognises that it is important for leaders to take out to be refreshed and restored.
