TotZone

totzone1 webIt is never too soon to start laying the foundations of faith in the lives of young children. By developing a relationship with toddlers or caring for babies, as you show love and patience you are reflecting the love of Jesus.

Very young children learn through every experience they have. As you join in their activities – reading books, looking at pictures, building with blocks, playing with toys – you are helping them learn new skills. So why not build these activities around a Bible story or Christian truth?

TotZone is written especially for those working with toddlers – it is not a dilution of material written for older children. The scope and sequence of Bible passages and each session focus has been selected for the age group. For example, the story of the death of Jesus, which is included in Easter units for all the older age groups, is replaced in TotZone with a session about the amazing love of Jesus for us. Whilst we want the youngest of children to share in the joyful climax of the resurrection, they don’t need an entire session focused on the horrors of the crucifixion.

To use TotZone all you need is a Leader’s Guide.

TotZone runs on a two-year cycle and each year has it's own Leader’s Guide containing the whole year's worth of sessions. Each session contains a Bible story, totzone2 webdiscussion materials, songs and activities that are appropriate for toddlers. Pictures and posters are also included that will illustrate some of the stories or will help initiate conversation and parents' information for each session are provided. Although, in line with all ages of the Children’s Ministry Teaching Programme, the sessions are set out in four steps, it is not expected that they should be presented as a continuous lesson. The article on session structure will help your planning.

The sessions can be used in their entirety for Sunday or mid-week groups, or elements may be selected to be incorporated into carer and toddler sessions, ‘pram services’ or similar.

The two-year cycle works with twelve-sessions (divided into six-session themes) for each season, autumn, winter and summer and five sessions each for Christmas and Easter.
