Jesus is alive! (Easter 1) These five sessions covering the Easter story provide an ideal opportunity to introduce young children to the real Jesus who loved them enough to carry out God's plan of salvation. Sharing the Passover meal, the garden of Gethsemane, Calvary, resurrection and the joy of the Emmaus Road, children make small beginnings in understanding the glorious triumph of Easter. Even young children recognize the common experiences of pain, separation, grief, loss and joy and are helped to appreciate the lonely determination of Jesus as he faced these. Most of these issues would appear to be immensely sad, but the puppets, rhymes, games, stories, activities and songs encourage children to focus on the very positive aspects of Jesus' death and resurrection. Children are reassured of God's love and commitment, and the seeds of the hope of eternal life are firmly planted in their minds and hearts.
