Seasons themes Families and friends / Obedience to God - the stories of Hannah, Jehosophat, Ezra, Esther, Daniel and Joseph
Sessions 1-6: Families and Friends Those closest to us are involved in our lives on every level, loving, helping valuing, teaching and training. We want children to learn that God is also present in our families and among our friends, actively loving, listening and helping when we ask. The bible stories in session 1-6 help children explore God’s interest and involvement in their lives, and the rhymes, songs and practical activities encourage them to build a confident relationship with him.
Session 1: Hannah's prayer (1 Samuel 1:1-2:21) Session 2: Oh Jehoshaphat! (2 Chronicles 20:1-30) Session 3: Time to go home
(Ezra 1-6) Session 4: Putting things right (Ezra 9-10) Session 5: Battle against differences (Esther 1-3) Session 6: Dangerous times (Esther 4-8)
Sessions 7-12: Obedience to God It has always been difficult to stand out from the crowd and children can take courage from three very different characters as they face their own circle of friends in today’s society. Choosing to do what God wants needs a growing relationship with him and support from the church family. Through arts and crafts, raps and rhymes, thought provoking activities, games and stories, children (and adults) find useful encouragement and help in their best endeavours to obey God. Human failure is acknowledged and everyone reminded that God wants us to try again when we have failed to obey.
Session 7: No half measures (Daniel 1) Session 8: Put God first (Daniel 3) Session 9: Keep Going! (Daniel 6) Session 10: Speaking out (Ezra 7) Session 11: Obeying God (Jonah 1-2) Session 12: Try again! (Jonah 3-4)
