Season Themes: Jesus: God’s Son – Gospel stories Relationships: God’s way – Lot, Ruth, David and disciples
Sessions 1-6: Jesus: God’s Son Children see Jesus growing up as part of a family, learning from those around him and in the synagogue, listening to God for himself, healing, caring, calling and showing God’s power. They are shown Jesus as a real person living in a specific time in history and in a place they can find on a map. Children are helped to relate to Jesus through their own experiences and are encouraged to believe that he is God’s Son and that they can respond to him for themselves.
Session 1: Jesus at home (Luke 2:39-40) Session 2: What’s God like? (Luke 2:41-52) Session 3: Obeying God (Matthew 3:13-17) Session 4: Follow me! (Matthew 4:18-22) Session 5: Amazing Jesus! (Matthew 4:23-25) Session 6: Jesus cares (John 6:1-15)
Sessions 7-12: Relationships: God’s way Children in this age group are setting their standards for the years ahead. There are many outside voices beginning to influence their thinking and belief systems. They need to know the truth and what happens when we disobey God’s best for us in our relationships with others. Children are helped to understand that God has standards. When we obey God and co-operate with him, our relationships will be deeper and stronger, and go well.
